July: Makiwara-ships of Tsushima-tenoh festival (Aichi)

This festival was started about 400 years ago. Five villages of Tsushima gather 5 Makiwara-ships to celebrate the festival. Each ship has 365 candle-lit paper lanterns (wishing safe 365 days) and 12 lanterns (wishing safe 12 months). They slowly move in the Tenoh river. The lanterns reflect on the water surface to create a fantasy world.
